She has worked in both adult and juvenile court. She also has extensive criminal and civil family law experience. She has handled all types of domestic violence related criminal charges, contempt cases, and child support. She has also handled family law matters, including domestic violence restraining orders and divorce.

While in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Nassar handled cases in numerous departments including the Career Criminal unit where she handled extremely violent offender cases, third-striker cases, DNA and fingerprint cases, and bank robbery cases; the Juvenile Gang unit where she handled serious juvenile cases and gang cases from all over Orange County; the Family Protection unit where she handled domestic violence, violations of restraining orders, witness intimidation, stalking, criminal threats, torture, sexual assault, spousal rape, elder abuse and child abuse cases; Felony units where she handled all felony cases involving DUI, drug sales, theft, fraud, assaults, burglary, residential burglary, automobile theft, robbery, carjacking, weapons charges and attempted murder. Ms. Nassar also spent time handling misdemeanor cases – specifically DUI cases involving alcohol and drugs, theft cases, prostitution, assaults, drugs, and appeals. Several cases were high profile media cases. In addition, while in Orange County, she handled child support and related family law matters.

In addition, while in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, she worked closely with the Orange County Department of Child Support Services. She handled criminal cases involving child support and advised on related family law matters including child support determinations, paternity, and civil contempt cases.

Awards and Recognitions

During her time as a prosecutor, Ms. Nassar was recognized in 2007 as an Outstanding Prosecutor by Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MAAD) for prosecuting driving under the influence cases. Also, Ms. Nassar was awarded Prosecutor of the Year in 2012 by Community Services Programs (formerly CSP now known as Waymakers) for her accomplishments in prosecuting felony cases and her work with victims of violent crimes and especially domestic violence victims. Ms. Nassar is known to give her all to achieve the best results for her clients.

Prior to working in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, she worked as a certified law clerk in the San Diego District Attorney’s Office in the Gang Unit and appeared in court arguing suppression motions and handling gang probation violations. Ms. Nassar also assisted on a special circumstances gang murder case.

Sandra Nassar is a California native. She grew up in Orange County, California. She attended the University of California at Irvine where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Art in Political Science. She then attended McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific in Sacramento.

During law school Ms. Nassar had several highly sought-after positions with prosecutorial agencies from the federal, state, and local level of government that gave her insight into how the criminal process worked. Ms. Nassar worked at the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office handling a variety of felony cases. Ms. Nassar worked at the California Department of Justice in the Appeals, Writs, and Trials Unit, in Sacramento writing criminal appeals. Ms. Nassar also worked at the United States Department of Justice, Eastern District of California working on organized crime and special prosecution cases that usually involved bombings.

This broad trial experience makes her a great litigator that is not afraid to go up against anyone. She has handled all types of cases at all levels.

Ms. Nassar is also known for her work with victims of crime. She has worked extensively to protect victim’s rights in criminal cases and civil cases. She has published cases by the appellate courts and has also proposed legislation that was passed into law.
